‘MrRyan27theCool’ Is the Youtube channel I upload my film scans to (see Gugusse Roller in the Tech section) as well as short films I’ve made at various points in my life. Enjoy!
Mexico Travelogue No. 3 (1932)
This film is a 1932 Travelogue made by Emma-Lindsey Squier and John Bransby about their experiences in Mexico, with this episode focusing on the production of chewing gum. The 35mm film was lent to me by Gary Knapp to scan, which I have done using the Gugusse Roller (see Tech section) a DIY film scanner designed by Denis-Carl Robidoux in the hopes that I could preserve a forgotten piece of history, and present it to a new audience. The film was printed in B&W on nitrate film stock but I have presented it here with the 'amber' colour that it currently takes. Apparently it's depiction of chewing gum (chicle) production is some of the earliest known footage.
Joshua Then and Now Trailer (1985)
Open Matte scan of the Joshua Then and Now (1985) theatrical trailer, scanned in 35mm using the Gugusse Roller. As the film only has a VHS release and a (supposedly) subpar DVD, this is the first time the film has been available to be seen in HD since it's initial theatrical release. This was the first 35mm scan I did, and resultantly some of the tracking isn’t as stable as I can now get it to.
